Christopher L. Nelson, M.D., is a native of Louisville, KY. He is board certified in the specialties of pain management and anesthesiology. His training began with undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of Kentucky, with residency training in anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His fellowship in pain management at Wake Forest University was completed under the mentorship and direction of Richard Rauck, M.D. who is well known and highly regarded internationally particularly in the realm of nerve pain disorders, most notably "RSD". He is gratis faculty at University of Louisville.
